What is Chazzanut?

According to the Wutzupham Dictionary of the Heblish language:

“Chazzanut – liturgical prayers chanted in Hebrew according to traditional melodies from various cultural Jewish sub-groups. “

Its taken me a while but I’ve finally started recording myself chanting different prayers. Please note I have a strict copyright on all recordings….which means you must copy them right, then and only then can you share them with anyone you want. :)

Erev Shabbat

Erev Shabbat kiddush chanted in a beautifully somber Moroccan maqam melody. One of my favorites but very hard to sing.

Shabbat Shacharit

Morning Blessings – The Brachot Hashachar (Morning Blessings) include Ma Tovu, Adon Olam, and Yigdal

Pesukei D’zimrah – Psalm 136 – Hodu L’Hsahem; Give thanks to Hashem

T’hilot (Praises), which center around the Biblical passages that thank God for His deliverance from Egypt at the Song at the Sea of Reeds.

Sim Shalom from the Shacarit prayers chanted in Nusach Ashkenaz. This is what we sing every Shabbat at Bella Torah.

Torah Service

Haftorah Blessings Here are the Blessings recited before and after the Haftorah (Prophets or Wrigtings) is read. Not the best recording but you get the idea.
